COPD Support & Treatment in Birmingham

One of the reasons why salt therapy is so effective for people suffering from COPD is that salt naturally thins out mucus, which makes it easier for the body to dispense with it. Furthermore, salt has various healing properties that ultimately cleanses the respiratory system and accelerates the removal of toxins

  • Salt helps to kill bacteria and its anti-pathogenic effects assist with eradicating the viruses that are often responsible for colds.

  • Due to the mucolytics effects, the lungs and airways are able to be cleared of stubborn phlegm and mucus.

  • Salt's anti-inflammatory affects help sooth the patient by reducing the symptoms of colds, including blocked noses, sore throats and coughs.

  • By lowering IgE levels (immune system sensitivity), salt therapy is able to help the patient build their natural defenses against cold viruses.

  • Reduce dependency on steroid inhalers and reduce hospital admissions for COPD flare-up.

COPD Support Birmingham

“Before I started at salt therapy I was on a nebuliser every 4 hours, Reliever inhaler 4 puffs in-between each nebuliser and various medications. I couldn’t walk a 100 yards or do any housework. I couldn’t shower myself as after I would be that breathless and I would be gasping for air. I had to have my reliever inhaler before I could be dried and dressed. After a few sessions I left off the reliever inhaler as felt I could breathe more easily. As I had more sessions I could have longer conversations without being breathless. I have continued to attend sessions and I can now do vacuuming all be it takes me a while and I wear a mask but the main thing is I can do it! I can now take showers and don’t need to use my reliever inhaler after. I have had day trips out, one to Bridgnorth and I was able to walk around for an hour without my stick to support me and not needing to sit down to have breaks. I am able to walk a lot further now than I could before I started the sessions. I used to have flare ups with my breathing which happened every month for 12 months previously. Most times having to have 2 courses of emergency packs of steroids and antibiotics. Since I have started with Zoe in May 2016 I have not had one occurrence since. I have had a little hiccup where my breathing got a bit worse but that’s nothing I can’t handle. I have reduced my nebulisers to 3 a day and some of my medications, so that along with the reduction of needing my reliever inhaler it’s all good!

Why didn’t she open before! All positive! Must keep it up while I can.” Frances C. COPD Birmingham
